Fire in the Sky

Fire in the Sky begins with that impossible orange glow that sometimes appears just before the day gives way to evening. A blazing sky of amber, coral, rust, and violet hovers above cool layers of turquoise, sea blue, gray, and deep indigo, creating a dramatic meeting of fire and water.

Loose strands and wisps of fiber move through the scene like wind across the surface of the sea, giving the piece an almost wonderfully unsettled energy. Framed in weathered wood, Fire in the Sky captures one of those fleeting EmBee moments when the sky seems to be showing off—and the water has no choice but to join in.
